Waukegan Police Department has charged Iziah Gonzalez with Murder with Intent to Kill after a stabbing that occurred at the Forty One Fourteen Steaks and Seafood restaurant in Waukegan Saturday night.
The stabbing occurred during a gender reveal party that was being hosted at the restaurant. The stabbing victim, Joshua Kirkwood, of Waukegan, was stabbed several times in his wrist, back, and right side. Joshua Kirkwood was owner of the restaurant.
Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded about 11:27 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 to a report of a stabbing at the Forty One Fourteen Steaks and Seafood restaurant at 2120 North Green Bay Road, Waukegan. Waukegan police officers arrived and found an injured 51-year-old man from Waukegan. Joshua Kirkwood was transported by Waukegan Fire Department paramedics to Vista Medical Center East where he was pronounced deceased in the emergency room.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the hospital. The deceased was identified as 51-year-old Joshua Kirkwood of Waukegan.
The suspect, Iziah Gonzalez, also arrived at the same emergency room with a stab wound, and was taken into custody. Additional suspects are being investigated after the homicide incident, which involves the restaurant owner and suspects arguing in the restaurant business office. A physical fight escalated to a stabbing.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy results indicate that Mr. Kirkwood died from multiple sharp force injuries.
The suspected murder weapon, a 9-inch knife, was recovered at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
Iziah Gonzalez, age 21, is being held “No Bail” in the Lake County Main Jail. Iziah Gonzalez is 5’7″ 190 LBS.
The next court date for Iziah Gonzalez is Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. for a Detention Hearing.
