The Palatine Fire Department responded about 8:38 a.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 08:38 a.m. to a report of a house in the block of 600 West Parkside Drive in Palatine. The first Palatine Fire Department unit arrived five minutes after the initial alarm and reported smoke coming from 2-story house. The fire department response was upgraded to a structure fire response.
Crews quickly realized the fire originated in a bedroom on the second floor of the house. The initial fire crews deployed a hose line to the second floor, and other crews used thermal imaging cameras to check for victims. All residents were safely located outside the house. The fire was declared under control at 08:57 a.m.
One civilian suffered non-life-threatening burns, and was transported to a local hospital.
No firefighters were injured in the fire.
Damage estimates were unavailable at the time of the news release.
Palatine Fire Department investigators have determined that the fire was accidental and remains under investigation.
The fire was fought by 25 firefighters staffing four engines, one ladder truck, one rescue squad, and three ambulances, which responded to the scene along with three command officers. During the incident, a Fox River Grove ambulance stood by at Palatine Fire Station 82 to provide coverage for any additional calls. Palatine Police officers assisted at the scene with traffic and crowd control.
