The Gurnee Police Department received a report about 3:39 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024 that a an unresponsive male was lying in the street at the intersection of Dorchester Avenue and Estes Street in Gurnee. Responding officers discovered the male, who appeared to have been dragged by a vehicle. Gurnee Fire Department paramedics also responded to the scene, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A short time later the Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene, which is in a residential neighborhood of single-family homes southwest of Route 132 and Route 41.
The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Luis Guzman, of Gurnee. An autopsy was conducted on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. As this is an active investigation, preliminary autopsy results are not being released at this time, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Gurnee officers are diligently working to gather information and evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
