The Lake County Coroner’s Office released the identity of a motorcyclist found deceased in Antioch Wednesday morning as William Webster, age 46, of Lake Villa. Final autopsy results are pending toxicology studies.

Police, firefighters and paramedics responded early morning Wednesday to a report of a person down in a ditch, but a person claims a non-emergency police phone number was called Tuesday night, reporting an unattended motorcycle in the same area. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call on Wednesday morning, and discovered a motorcycle and a deceased male about 40 feet from the motorcycle. Antioch police detectives are investigating the death, along with the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Antioch Police Department received the report about 6:02 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 of a person lying in a ditch near the area of Deep Lake Road and Route 173 in Antioch, according to the police department. When officers arrived, they discovered a motorcycle parked alongside northbound Deep Lake Road, just north of Route 173. The motorcycle appeared to have been in a condition of mechanical failure.

Antioch firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene for a report of a man down at 6:03 a.m. A caller reported a motorcycle standing up, and that a person was found face down and not moving in the field across the Mattress Firm. Police were responding simultaneously. Paramedics discovered the man deceased at the scene.

According to the Antioch Police Department, the body of an adult male was discovered lying in the brush, about 40 feet away from the motorcycle. Yesterday, authorities reported that the initial investigation by the Lake County Coroner’s Office did not find any outward signs of foul play.

Antioch Police Detectives continue to investigate.

According to the Antioch Police Department, there is no indication warranting public concern for safety. The scene of the death investigation was located on the east side of Deep Lake Road, just north of Route 173.

According to a comment on the Antioch Police Department Facebook page, a 9-1-1 call was placed about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024 reporting a suspicious situation involving a parked motorcycle with red hazard lights flashing and no person in the area near the motorcycle. Another person commented that a male was standing next to a motorcycle at about 9:50 p.m., and that he had apparently just pulled over to the side of the road.

The Antioch Police Department urges that anyone who was in the area, and believes they may have additional information, call the Antioch Police dispatch center at 847-270-9111 or email [email protected].
