Police officers from Libertyville responded about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 to a report of a man with a gun at the trunorth Shell gas station, 2070 Shell Drive in Libertyville. The gas station with a convenience store is located at the southeast corner of Roue 45 and Peterson Road. A Wendy’s and the Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago-Libertyville is located nearby.
Police received a report that a male subject entered a gas station in the 2000 block of Shell Drive, and after spending a half hour in the bathroom, an employee checked on the well-being of the subject. The male subject then left the business.
The male subject allegedly pointed a black handgun at the gas station convenience store clerk while leaving the parking lot in a silver SUV with tinted windows. The license plates on the silver SUV were initially described as unknown Wisconsin license plates. The Libertyville Police Department provide a security image of the suspect.
The offender fled northbound in the silver SUV on US Highway 45.
The Libertyville Police Department is actively investigating this incident, and the male is wanted for investigation of Aggravated Assault. The Libertyville Police Department urges anyone that might recognize the offender or that has any information that might assist with the investigation to contact the Libertyville Police Department’s Investigation Division at 847-362-8310.
