Police officers from Arlington Heights responded just before 6:08 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2024 to a report of a male adult interfering with cars in the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Thomas Street in Arlington Heights near Thomas Middle School.

Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics were assigned about 6:08 p.m. at the request of the police for a psychiatric evaluation, EMS call. A witness told CARDINAL NEWS that a male adult was placed in an ambulance about 6:17 p.m. and that it looked like the man had blood on his face. Another witness, who saw the man from a closer view, told CARDINAL NEWS that the male adult was wearing make-up similar to the Joker character in Batman.

The man was allegedly holding a large rock or brick type object, and threatening or teasing motorists near the intersection as if he were going to hit motorists’ vehicles with the object.

Paramedics made patient contact with the man in the west parking lot of Thomas Middle School, and began patient transport to Northwest Community Hospital about 6:20 p.m. An extra paramedic from the rescue squad was assigned to the ambulance, and the rescue squad and two police officers in their police SUVs followed the ambulance to the hospital.
