Lover Charged with Attempted Murder After Mother’s Child Found Critically Injured with Stab Wounds in Beach Park

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives conducted a thorough investigation into an incident that left a nine-year-old child in critical condition Thursday morning February 15, 2024. Following the investigation, Lake County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Demetrius Fisher, 30, of the block of 38000 North Manor Avenue in Beach Park.




According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the nine-year-old child’s mother is in a dating relationship with Fisher and lives in a home with the suspect and the child in the block of 38000 North Manor Avenue. In the morning on February 15, 2024, the child’s mother was called by officials at her child’s school inquiring as to the reason her child was not in attendance. When child’s mother returned home to check why her child was not in school, she saw Fisher exiting the home. When Fisher saw her, he ran from the home. The child’s mother entered the home and discovered her child inside with multiple stab wounds.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies learned that Fisher boarded a bus and was likely going to a nearby train station. Sheriff’s Deputies located Fisher at the Waukegan Metra station, where he was placed under arrest.

After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charge against Fisher:

Attempt First Degree Murder

Fisher is due in First Appearance Court on February 16, 2024 at 9:00 AM.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 10:45 a.m. February 15, 2024 to a residence in the 38000 block of N. Manor Avenue, Beach Park, for a report of a stabbing.

When Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, they found a nine-year-old child with multiple stab wounds inside the residence. The child was transported via ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical, life-threatening injuries.




Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies became aware a suspect in this incident left the residence prior to their arrival. The suspect, a 30-year-old male from the 38000 block of N. Manor Avenue, was located at a nearby train station and he was taken into custody.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to investigate this incident. There is no danger to the community.
