Lake County Coroner Releases Identity of Solar Panel Installer, Age 28, Who Died in Fall from Roof of House in Gurnee

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Gurnee responded about 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024 to a report that a man who had fallen off a roof of a home in the block of 2000 Liberty Lane in Gurnee. Emergency crews arrived and found a 28-year-old man from Chicago unresponsive but breathing. The man was part of a crew installing solar panels on the roof of a two-story home. The victim was transported by ambulance to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where despite care and treatment, he was pronounced deceased in the emergency room.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the hospital.

The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Braulio Lozano, from Chicago. On Monday, February 5, 2024, an autopsy was performed at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary results indicate that Mr. Lozano died from blunt force injuries as a result of the incident.

The incident remains under investigation by the Gurnee Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
