Multiple Police Agencies Capture Chicago Armed Robbery Suspect on I-94 Near Gurnee

A police chase was underway for a robbery suspect who was possibly a suspect in an armed robbery at a CVS at an undisclosed location in Chicago. Allegedly a round was fired inside the CVS store, but this was not initially confirmed. The suspect fled in a red Chevy. The suspect was described as a male black, wearing all black, and wearing surgical gloves.

The suspect was captured after a pursuit that lasted about 70 minutes. The pursuit involved about 24 police vehicles that were witnessed heading northbound on I-94 near Northbrook.




Police used spike strips and PIT maneuvers to attempt to stop the offender, after the suspect was first spotted in the red Chevy at about 6:10 p.m. in the area I-294 and I-290.

Police continued the pursuit up I-294 northbound and I-94 northbound, and crossed the Wisconsin state line. The suspect turned around near Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and then headed southbound back into Illinois.

The suspect was passing southbound past Six Flags Great America about 7:20 p.m.

Police tagged the suspect with a PITT maneuver and boxed him in with multiple police vehicles at about 7:23 p.m. on I-94 southbound between Washington Street and Route 120. The suspect was in custody about 7:23 p.m.
