A Lake Forest fire engine was hit by a Ford Mustang when the driver of the Ford Mustang was driving too fast for conditions Sunday morning, November 26, 2023. Before the crash into the stationary fire engine, Lake Forest firefighters had responded with a fire engine and an ambulance to a single-vehicle crash that occurred during snowy conditions on Route 41 near Gage Lane south of Route 176 in Lake Forest.

Light snow, fog and mist were observed in the area from about 3:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2023. A Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service Chicago office (activated 2:48 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday) was issued for Cook, DuPage and Will counties but not for Lake County Illinois
