Police officers, firefighters and paramedics from Waukegan responded about 5:50 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023 to a report of a motorcycle crash with a car that caused serious injuries to the motorcyclist in the block of 900 South Green Bay Road near 10th Street, and near the Maj-Estic Collision Center on the northeast corner of Green Bay Road and 10th Street in Waukegan.
The motorcycle operator, a 20-year-old Waukegan man, was found to have critical injuries and was transported by the Waukegan Fire Department to Vista Medical Center East, where despite care and treatment, he was pronounced deceased in the emergency room.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 6:50 p.m., was notified by emergency room staff at Vista Medical Center East, of a death that occurred as a result of the motorcycle vs. motor vehicle crash.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified.
The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Genry Matute-Amador, of Waukegan. On Monday, September 25, 2023, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary results of the autopsy indicate that Mr. Matute-Amaor died from Blunt Force Injuries as a result of the crash.
The crash investigation investigation continues by the Waukegan Police Department.
