A preliminary investigation revealed that a gray Honda Civic was driven by Jaime Bibiano, age 55 of Waterman. Bibiano was traveling westbound on US Route 30 from Davis Road. Bibiano passed a westbound vehicle in front of him and entered the eastbound lane of Route 30 in a no passing zone where Bibiano had a left-hand curve or was near a left-hand turn. A blue 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Scott Luczynski, age 56 of Elburn, and carrying a passenger, Kathleen Luczynski, age 58, also of Elburn, was eastbound on US Route 30 approaching Davis Road.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, while Bibiano was passing on the left, his vehicle struck the motorcycle with the two riders head-on. Kane County Sheriff’s Detectives continue to investigate the crash. US-30 is a narrow two-lane rural highway with a soft shoulder on each side. The Speed Limit is 55 MPH posted just before the curve for westbound traffic, according to Google Map Street View images. Just before the Speed Limit 55 MPH sign for westbound traffic is a NO PASSING ZONE sign and a left-turn curve warning sign.

Initially it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved or a contributing factor of the crash.

The roadway was re-opened overnight after the crash investigation.
