Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Hoffman Estates responded about 1:13 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023 to a report of a motorcycle crash with a wall on eastbound I-90 eastbound exit to Barrington Road. The victim was discovered a few minutes later by other motorists.
Firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State Police troopers on arrival discovered a motorcyclist unresponsive and not breathing at the scene on the off ramp from I-90 east to Barrington Road with the motorcycle in the middle of the ramp. Paramedics were immediately working with a victim with traumatic cardiac arrest. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcyclist was identified as Souriya D. Syavong, age 24, of Killeen, Texas. Syavong hit a concrete divider and a road sign at Toll Plaza 10 on the offramp.
The motorcycle was a black sports bike — possibly a Honda.
The ramp was shut down during rescue and investigation.
