Fox Lake and Round Lake firefighters and paramedics responded about 10:19 a.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023 to report of an outdoor grass fire at Wilson Road and Route 120 in Round Lake. Firefighters on arrival discovered that a large mulch pile was on fire near the intersection of Wilson Road and Belvedere Road (Route 120).
A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm to the Second Level was activated at 1:07 p.m.
Route 120 (Belvidere Road) shut down after a short time into firefighting operations.

Wind is forecast to be from the northeast at 10 MPH with gusts 15 to 16 MPH until 5:00 p.m. Then gusts are expected to gradually diminish to about 13 MPH at midnight Sunday/Monday and stop.
Winds are forecast to be less than 5 or 6 MPH after 11:00 p.m. and shift from the north-northeast direction and then shift from the west-southwest direction about 5:00 a.m.
A few callers mistakenly reporting fires at other locations after seeing the smoke from the mulch pile fire.
