Palatine Motoryclist Killed in Crash with Semi-Trailer on Northwest Highway, Palatine

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Palatine responded about 1:11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023 2021 to a report of a motorcycle crash with a semi-trailer truck (tractor and trailer combination) near Wendy’s at 265 North Northwest Highway. Police, firefighters and paramedics received a report that the motorcyclist and motorcycle was under the semi-trailer truck trailer. There were no additional passengers on the motorcycle.

A 50-year-old male operator, and only rider of the motorcycle, was pronounced deceased, according to Palatine Police Department. According to the Cook County Medical Examiners Office, a 50 year-old male who resides in Palatine was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not initially released pending notification of family members.




Through the initial investigation it appears the semi-tractor trailer combination was exiting a private drive in the 200 block of North Northwest Highway to travel southbound when a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Northwest Highway struck the trailer of the semi-tractor trailer combination.

The Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction unit (MCAT-STAR) was requested to further investigate the crash. Also, Illinois State Police responded to the scene to complete an inspection of the semi-tractor trailer combination.

Northwest Highway between North Hicks Rd and East Hicks Place was closed for several hours, reopening at approximately 7:30 a.m., according to the Palatine Police Department.
