A Barrington resident is now facing the charge of Dissemination of Child Pornography, a Class X felony, following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC), Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Friday, June 23, 2023.

ICAC investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding videos and images of child pornography uploaded and shared through a social media account linked to Anthony Demonte, 49, of Barrington.

Search warrants executed for Demonte’s social media account found it contained multiple files of sexually explicit videos of children under the age of 13.

On Wednesday, June 21, Demonte was taken into custody at his home and transported to Sheriff’s Police headquarters in Maywood. During this time, ICAC investigators along with Electronics Detection K-9 Boone searched the residence and retrieved a cell phone and other electronic devices.

After being issued his Miranda Warning, Demonte stated the retrieved cell phone was his. A preliminary forensic analysis on his cell phone revealed multiple pornographic videos of male and female children under the age of 13 engaging in sexual conduct with other children and adults.

On Thursday, June 22, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges of Dissemination of Child Pornography, a Class X felony, and Possession of Child Pornography, a Class 2 felony.

Since 2020, investigations by the Sheriff’s ICAC Unit have led to charges against 37 individuals for cases involving the victimization of children and child pornography.

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.

Demonte appeared for a bond hearing on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse, where a judge ordered him held on a $250,000 D bond. The judge’s order requires Demonte to be placed on the Office of the Chief Judge’s electronic monitoring program if the required 10% of his bond is posted. A D-Bond in Illinois defines that the suspect needs to post 10% to be released from jail. Demonte was booked at Cook County Jail later on Friday, June 23, 2023.

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Anthony J. Demonte remains held at Cook County Jail Division 8 (DIV08-2G-D3-26) near 26th Street and California Avenue in Chicago.
