The most common causes of rear-end crashes involve driver inattention or distraction, such as texting, talking on the phone, adjusting the radio, eating, or engaging in other distractions while driving, such as talking with passengers in the car. Distracted or inattentive drivers are more likely to fail to notice when the vehicle in front of them stops or slows down, resulting in a rear-end collision.

Other common causes of rear-end crashes include tailgating (following too closely behind another vehicle), driving too fast for road conditions, impaired driving (such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), aggressive driving, and inadequate vehicle maintenance, which can cause brake failure.

It’s important for drivers to always maintain a safe following distance, stay attentive to the road, obey traffic laws, and avoid distractions to prevent rear-end collisions and ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
