Woman Shot and Killed at Motel on Milwaukee Ave Glenview, Suspect Held without Bond

A Chicago resident charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting Sunday, March 5, 2023 at a Glenview motel, was order held without bond Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court Skokie. Melvin Trimble, age 37, is accused of murder of Aliyaha Frierson, age 27, also of Chicago.




Glenview police responded about 5:12 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023 to a report of a person shot and not breathing at the Motel 6, 1535 Milwaukee Avenue in Glenview.

Police found Aliyaha Frierson had sustained a gunshot wound, and determined the scene was secure. Police took Trimble into custody without incident and recovered a firearm, simultaneously as paramedics were permitted to move up to the scene and perform lifesaving measures. Aliyaha Frierson was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:55 a.m.

Following an investigation and interviews, police charged Melvin Trimble, of the block of 1600 Saint Louis Avenue in Chicago, with one count of first-degree murder at 1:47 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

Trimble, who had been held in custody, was scheduled for a bond hearing at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Cook County Skokie courthouse. At the hearing, Trimble was order held without bond and was held at Cook County Jail Division 8.

Trimble’s next court date is March 8, 2023 at the Criminal Court Building in Chicago.

Another court date is scheduled March 21, 2023 at the Cook County Circuit Court Skokie.




Glenview police described the shooting as an isolated incident with no threat to the public.

The Cook County state’s attorney’s office and the North Regional Violent Crimes Task Force are assisting Glenview Police Department detectives with the investigation.
