Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched about 8:15 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, to a report of a reckless driver brandishing a gun in the area of Route 176 and Fairfield Road, unincorporated Wauconda. The victim, a 53-year-old man, reported that another driver didn’t allow him to merge as the two traveled eastbound.

The victim reported that as the two proceeded eastbound on Route 176 following the merge, the offending motorist allegedly displayed a firearm and waived it at the victim. The victim then called 911 to report the incident. The suspect was seen pulling into a business in the block of 28700 North Route 83 in unincorporated Mundelein.

Mundelein Police Officers responded and located the suspect, identified as Anthony J. Delorto, 37, of the 1400 block of Challenge Road, Batavia.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and placed Delorto into custody for his actions. The pistol allegedly brandished by Delorto was recovered from Delorto’s vehicle.

After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges:

Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor)

Aggravated Assault (Class A Misdemeanor)

Disorderly Conduct (Class C Misdemeanor)

Delorto was processed at the Lake County Jail and released on a $1,500.00 Recognizance Bond. He is due back in court on March 28, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
