A narrow corridor of heavy snowfall has moved northwest with the heaviest snow likely to fall along the Illinois Wisconsin state line from about Antioch to about 25 miles northwest of Rockford.

Additionally, radar has cleared in northeast Illinois all the way to west of Rockford and Peoria. Some sparse precipitation in northeast Illinois was diminishing to zero at 8:15 a.m. Last night’s forecast indicated snow would begin in Arlington Heights about 7:00 a.m. Saturday, but the radar near Arlington Heights is nearly clear except for sparse precipitation at 8:25 a.m. Intermittent snow flurries were observed.

Very light snow about 0.125 inch fell around 6:00 a.m. in Arlington Heights.

Less than one inch of snowfall is possible in north Arlington Heights. Less than one-half inch of snow is possible in south Arlington Heights. Snow is not likely to accumulate on pavement surfaces.

The Winter Weather Advisory expires at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, but it would not be surprising if the advisory expires early.

Weather Radar in northeast Illinois was clear all the way to west of Rockford and Peoria.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON…

* WHAT…Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations ranging from 2 to 3 inches over northern portions of the counties to little or no accumulation southern portions of the counties. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE…Mainly northern portions of DuPage, La Salle and Kendall Counties.

* WHEN…Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Untreated roads will become covered with slushy snow accumulations and travel may become difficult for a period early this morning during the period of heaviest snow.

Today: Rain and snow, mainly before 4pm. High near 37. North wind around 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of rain after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
