Police, firefighters and paramedics from Rolling Meadows responded just before 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 to a report of a fight in progress in a hallway inside Rolling Meadows just east of the main entrance on the north side of the high school, located at 2901 Central Road in Rolling Meadows.

Extra police officers were dispatched to Rolling Meadows High School when school resource officers and high school staff were initially unable to restrain several students who were fighting. Possibly, about 20 to 30 students were fighting. The fighting was then brought under control. A video was shared by social media and private messages, and several concerned citizens provided tips to CARDINAL NEWS with concern that neither the District 214 administration or the police department were providing enough details about the safety and security at Rolling Meadows High School. Police did confirm that there were several arrests, and charges have been filed. However, no other details were provided.

CARDINAL NEWS was unable to confirm a report that a student was hit with a baseball bat during the fight, and that the student was transported with injuries to a hospital emergency room by paramedics. One ambulance was dispatched to the scene, according to witnesses. Also, according to a witness, paramedics met with an injured student at the school, but the witness was unable to confirm whether the student was transported to a hospital.

Although District 214 released a “Hello Mustangs Families” notice to the school community about a “physical altercation”, there was no mention of a student being injured or paramedics being at the school.

Here is the notice provided by District 214 …

“Hello Mustangs Families,

This email is being sent to inform you of increased police presence today during dismissal. We had additional officers present to ensure the safety of our students and staff after the physical altercations that occurred today on our campus. The students who were involved were immediately removed from the school setting and will be able to return pending a thorough investigation. Discipline will be issued accordingly once the investigation is complete”
