Ice Issues Cause Stuck Tracks at Route 14 and the Canadian National Railroad Tracks, Barrington

#ad▼

Barrington police temporarily shut down Northwest Highway at the Canadian National railroad tracks because ice caused the railroad tracks to malfunction Wednesday night February 22, 2023. Railroad workers were scheduled to repair the issue about 9:25 p.m. and completed the repairs by 9:45 p.m.

Earlier Wednesday evening, several Metra passenger trains on the Union Pacific Northwest Line were stopped outside of McHenry due to a tree that was down across the tracks between Pingree Road and McHenry.
