Police, firefighters and paramedics from Crystal Lake responded about 5:55 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023, to a report of a crash with serious injuries involving an SUV and a motorcycle in the area of Route 14 and Coventry Lane in Crystal Lake. The preliminary investigation revealed a sports utility vehicle was stopped in eastbound traffic. A motorcycle also traveling eastbound made contact with the sports utility vehicle. The adult male driver of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.
A portion of Route 14 was shut down for approximately two hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the Crystal Lake Accident Investigation Team. Police urge anyone who may have information relating to this crash to contact the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620. In addition, anyone with a cell phone can send an anonymous tip to the Crystal Lake Police Department by texting the word CLPDTIP along with the tip information to 847411 (tip411).
