Three in Custody After Victim Shot Multiple Times on Pine Street Des Plaines

Police officers from Des Plaines responded about 11:10 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023 to a report of shots fired in the block of 2000 Pine Street in a neighborhood just northeast of Lake Opeka in Des Plaines.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched about 11:14 p.m. after police located a 25 year-old gunshot victim, who had been shot multiple times. Police determined the scene was secure by about 11:18 p.m., and paramedics moved up to treat the gunshot victim.




The victim was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with extra paramedics on board the ambulance. However, police reported Friday that the victim was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police officers on arrival discovered three subjects running southbound on Pine Street. All three were taken into custody — one 18 year-old subject and two 16 year-old subjects.

a 16 year-old from Des Plaines, and

a 16 year-old from Rosemont

Two weapons were recovered, at least one of the weapons was recovered with help of a K-9.

Police also responded the night before to a report of shots fired. Des Plaines police responded about 8:33 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 to a report of shots fired in the area of the block of 1300 Prospect Avenue. Des Plaines police discovered several gun shots were fired in the area of Pine Court just north of Prospect Avenue.

No damage or injuries were discovered. Two male subjects were in the neighborhood at the time the shots were fired.
