Grayslake Fire Protection District firefighters and divers responded about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 to a report of a missing swimmer in Grays Lake. Upon arrival firefighters learned additional details that two swimmers had lost contact with a third swimmer in their group. A boat was launched to attempt to located the third swimmer. The third swimmer was located on the opposite side of Grays Lake near Jones Island.
The adult male swimmer report that he had begun to tire and that he turned around to go back to the beach after he unsuccessfully tried to make contact with his swimming group.
Grayslake Fire Protection District firefighters, paramedics and divers were assisted at the scene by divers with boats from Antioch, Fox Lake, Gurnee, Lake Villa, Libertyville, and Round Lake.
