Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 10, 2022, at approximately, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Saint Marys Road and Terre Drive, Unincorporated Libertyville, for a vehicle versus bicyclist crash with injuries.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found the bicyclist, a 64-year-old woman of Green Oaks, with significant injuries. The bicyclist was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. The driver of a Toyota 4Runner involved in the crash was not injured.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced in the afternoon on Monday, July 11, 2022 that the bicyclist died.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2005 Toyota 4Runner, driven by an 81-year-old man of Libertyville, was traveling southbound on Saint Marys Road, approaching Terre Drive. The bicyclist then crossed Saint Marys Road from the west side of Terre Drive and drove directly in the path of the southbound Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was unable to stop in time and struck the bicyclist.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
