Trespassing Suspect Faces Charges in Lake in the Hills After Public Helps with Identification from Security Image

Lake in the Hills Police Department announced Tuesday, June 7, 2022 that trespassing charges have been filed against Justin J. Schneck, a male/white age 30, who is described as homeless. Schneck was charged with two counts of attempted criminal trespass to a residence. Schneck was also issued a ticket under the lake in the hills local ordinance for trespassing. He is currently in the custody of Stephenson County Sheriffs Office (west of Rockford) for an unrelated incident at the same date of this Lake in the Hills Police Department release.




The criminal trespass case investigation began on May 28, 2022 after the Lake in the Hills Police Department received several reports at approximately 3:50 AM regarding an unknown male suspect attempting to enter homes. In one instance the suspect entered a residential garage.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department published a statement on the department’s official Facebook page describing the incident, included an image of the suspect, and requested the public to assist with the identification of the suspect.




After releasing on May 29, 2022 the image from a security camera that captured the suspect’s physical description, Lake in the hills Police Department began investigating several tips from the public that were received. With the work of Lake in the Hills Police Department police officers Schneck was identified.

INITIAL STATEMENT REQUESTING HELP FROM PUBLIC

The Lake in the Hills Police Department is seeking information in identifying the below pictured subject who was observed on 05/28/2022 at 3:50am attempting to enter homes on Wright Drive. The subject left the area on foot in an unknown direction once confronted by a homeowner in their garage. It is unclear as to the motives of this subject, but our officers are investigating this matter to ensure the safety of our community. Officers will be conducting increased patrols in this area to ensure the safety of our residents.
