As we move into spring, we are also beginning to enter the peak season for outdoor grilling. Explore these tips to prepare for the outdoor grilling season.

There’s no better feeling than dusting off the grill after a long and cold winter. Whether you’re a seasoned grilling vet or just diving into this hobby, there’s always something new to learn about the art of grilling. With this in mind, here are some tips for preparing for the outdoor grilling season this spring.

Scrub the Gunk Off Those Grates

After a long winter, there’s most likely some gunk left over from last year that you need to clean off your grill. Making sure your grates are clean will ensure that your heat distributes evenly while you cook and will also prevent you from getting ash and other impurities on your food. To clean the grates, avoid using soap, and instead use a wire brush to scrub off anything that’s coating them.

Deep Clean Your Lid

Once you finish scrubbing your grates, be sure to check your grill’s lid for any charred material coating the inside. To clean off your lid, use a coarse sponge to scrub just like you did for the grates.

You can even reuse the wire brush, but make sure that it’s clean before you use it on the lid. Cleaning your lid won’t provide you with any flavor benefits, but it will help you prevent any dirt or paint chips from ruining your food. Making sure your grill is clean is one of the five tips and tricks to making grilling more enjoyable.

Empty Out Your Grease Trap

Many people forget to empty out their grease trap when they decide to start grilling again. Needless to say, you don’t want to be one of these people!

Thoroughly clean your trap so you don’t have to replace it later. Then, line the trap with some aluminum foil so that it’s easier to clean.

Stock Up on Supplies

Once your grill is starting to get into prime condition, you will want to stock up on any supplies so that you can have them handy when you need them. Some examples would be grilling tools such as a spatula, delicious rubs, a cooking thermometer, and charcoal.

Overall, this upcoming grilling season will be one for the books if you follow these tips. Now that you know a few of the best tips for preparing for outdoor grilling season, you can look forward to eating mouth-watering grilled treats this spring without any hassles.
