Police from Lincolnshire responded about 5:23 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 to a report that a driver was blocking Milwaukee Avenue near the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Aptakisic Road in Lincolnshire. When police arrived the driver of a silver Toyota Camry began driving in circles on Milwaukee Avenue — crossing all lanes.

A police officer set up to block the northbound lanes to prevent a traffic crash with the driver who was driving in circles. The female police officer was hit by the reckless driver near Milwaukee Avenue and Riverside Road/Tower Parkway after she got out of her police vehicle about 5:37 p.m. The driver that hit the police officer then fled the scene. A police officer called for Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District firefighters and paramedics to respond to the scene for the injured police officer. Her injuries were not initially believed to be life-threatening.

One police officer stayed at the scene with the injured officer, and other police officers from Lincolnshire Police Department and Riverwoods Police Department pursued the vehicle near Olde Half Day Road and Route 22. Police terminated the pursuit for safety reasons, and the driver was last seen traveling westbound on Route 22.

Police are investigating the case, including the identity of the offending driver. The driver was described as male/white age 30, medium build with a beard. The suspect is wanted for investigation of Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer.
