Victim Duped by Fake Past Due ComEd Scam in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 3:39 PM Wednesday February 16, 2022 of a theft by deception in the block of 1400 Partridge Lane Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender called a victim at their residence

The victim received a phone call from a subject claiming to be with the ComEd billing department.

The offender told the victim she owed $800.00, which she subsequently sent electronically.

After the phone call, the victim became suspicious and called ComEd, and was told the phone call and transaction was a scam.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 3:38 PM.
