Woman Charged with First Degree Murder in Apartment Shooting on Arbor Drive, Rolling Meadows

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Rolling Meadows responded about 9:44 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021 to a report of a shooting in an apartment unit at 4700 Arbor Drive in Rolling Meadows.

Police, firefighters and paramedics received a report that at male victim was shot in an apartment in a second floor apartment unit at The Preserve at Woodfield Apartments.




Once on scene, Rolling Meadows police officers were able to locate a male gunshot victim, who was identified as James P. Jones, age 29. Police confirmed that the scene was secure by about 9:51 p.m. Police and paramedics discovered that Jones had been shot in the chest. He was later pronounced dead, according to the Rolling Meadows Police Department.

Claudia Resendiz-Florez was identified as the shooter and taken into custody, according to Rolling Meadows Police Department. A witness has been cooperating with the investigation and the scene was processed for evidence.




Rolling Meadows police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident with no threat to the general public.

Claudia Resendiz-Flores has been charged with 1st degree murder and was transported to Central Bond Court (26th & California) for a bond hearing.
