One Hurt in Intersection Crash at Arlington Heights Rd and Lake Cook Rd, Arlington Heights

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 to a report of a crash with injuries at Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.

Police, firefighters and paramedics arrived to find one motorist injured in their vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.




A pedestrian witness reported that one vehicle was traveling eastbound on Lake Cook and one vehicle was traveling westbound on Lake Cook Road. The driver of the eastbound vehicle attempted to turn left onto northbound Arlington Heights Road, but was struck by the oncoming vehicle in a westbound lane. The westbound vehicle skidded through intersection and came to a stop west of the intersection on the north side of Lake Cook Road at the edge of the southeast corner of the Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve. The driver of westbound vehicle did not initially report any injuries.

The driver that turned in front of the westbound vehicle remained in the intersection inside their vehicle with their airbag deployed. The crash victim was treated and transported by Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics.




Arlington Heights police were on scene immediately. The police officer was already patrolling traffic at the Terramere Plaza strip mall at the southwest corner of Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road, according to the witness.

There’s a Lake County PASSAGE camera that captures all directions at the intersection.

The Speed Limit on Lake Cook Road is 45 MPH in both directions according to Google Street View images captured in September 2019.
