NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Naperville Police Department recently completed two independent child pornography investigations, resulting in the arrests of two Naperville men, according to a news release from the Naperville Police Department on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

On Thursday, October 7, 2021 the Naperville Police Department arrested Jerome Alan Vahary, 41, of the 800 block of Mt. Vernon Court, Naperville. Vahary is charged with 10 felony counts (Class X) of Child Pornography-Reproduce or Distribute-Video. This investigation was initiated in January of 2021 after the Naperville Police Department received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The subsequent investigation led to charges against Vahary in this incident.

On Monday, October 11, 2021 the Naperville Police Department arrested Vatsal Patel, 20, of the 900 block of Creekside Circle, Naperville. Patel is charged with four felony counts (Class 2) of Child Pornography-Possess Visual Reproduction on Computer-Victim Under 13. This investigation was initiated back in October of 2019 after the Naperville Police Department received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Again, the subsequent investigation led to charges against Patel in this incident.

“The Naperville Police Department will relentlessly pursue anyone engaged in such heinous acts as creating or distributing child pornography in this community,” said Interim Police Chief Jason Arres. “I want to acknowledge our investigators for doing a great job in putting these investigations together and working with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office to bring charges against these individuals.”

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
