O’HARE FORECAST …
Today: A slight chance of showers between 1pm and 4pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 72. South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 58. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
An upper-level wave and associated low pressure system will move in later this afternoon and bring chances for some isolated to scattered showers this afternoon into Thursday morning. However, lower level moisture return with this system will be rather poor, so this will not be a continuous rain, with lots of dry time likely. Precipitation totals will be less than a tenth of an inch in most areas. While precipitation should remain light and scattered in nature, the presence of rather steep mid-level lapse rates may support a few high based elevated thunderstorms this afternoon and evening ahead of an approaching cold front. For this reason we continue to mention some small chances for thunder in the forecast, though severe storms are not likely. — NWS Chicago
