Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters and paramedics from Round Lake responded about 10:35 p.m. September 5, 2021 to a report of an injured gunshot victim at Behm Lane and Peterson Road (County Highway 20), just southeast of the Village of Round Lake.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies on arrival discovered the driver, who was the shooting victim, and two passengers. The driver suffered a single gunshot wound, and was transported to a nearby hospital. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies learned from passengers that the shooting occurred inside the Village of Round Lake and notified the Round Lake Police Department — now the lead law enforcement agency of the shooting investigation.

The shooting victim is recovering at the hospital.

The Round Lake Police Department is now seeking help from the public to determine where the shots were fired. According to the initial police investigation, the man was driving his blue Hyundai with two passengers in Round Lake on Sunday night when an unknown offender or offenders shot at the vehicle. After being shot, the man drove out of Round Lake and stopped near the intersection of Behm Lane and Peterson Road in Fremont Township between Round Lake and Mundelein, and just west of the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake. There are multiple video cameras mounted at the intersection of Behm Lane and Peterson Road.

The Round Lake Police Department is urging anyone with information on the shooting to call the Round Lake police investigators at 847-546-8112.
