Police, firefighters and paramedics from Fox Lake responded about 10:15 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 to a water rescue incident with a report of a male that is missing in the Fox Lake south of Crabapple Island in Fox Lake. A man in his 20s jumped from a pontoon boat, went under water, and did not re-surface, according to a report from other people that were on the pontoon boat.
Rescuers and divers were staging at Fam’s on the Chain at 112 Lakeview in Fox Lake.
A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm #22-69 was activated to the Second Level at 10:48 a.m.
Firefighters, paramedics, divers and/or command officers from Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Cary, Crystal Lake, Great Lakes, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Nunda, Waukegan, Woodstock, and Zion were assigned to the scene.
The rescue operation transitioned to a recovery operation at about 12:20 p.m. Friday, and Illinois Department of Conservation Police Department is leading the investigation.
Fire dispatch reported WGN helicopter Skycam 9 was in the area, and incident command asked the WGN helicopter crew for assistance with an aerial search of the Fox Lake area.
