Illinois State Police responded about 2:31 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021 to investigate a shots fired call at Mile Marker 21 on I-94 WEST possibly south of Everett Road and north of Duffy Lane. Illinois State Police received a report that driver of a sports car was weaving in traffic and fired shots at another motorist.
The caller reported that the offender shot at the driver of a red Ford F-150 pickup truck three times. The driver of the pickup truck was not struck, but may have been hit by shrapnel. The unlawful use of weapon crime may have occurred further south closer to Mile Marker 23 or Duffy Lane.
The offender was driving a blue or black sports car, and fled northbound on I-94 WEST. Later the vehicle was described as possibly a silver or black vehicle — possibly a Honda Civic. The offender was initially described as a male/Hispanic.
Traffic was being diverted off I-94 WEST at Deerfield Road. All lanes of I-94 WEST were shut down for an investigation.
