Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in Northeast Illinois, Lightning, Winds, Heavy Rain

Severe thunderstorms will be arriving a little earlier than forecast for Tuesday evening. Compared to yesterday, tornadoes are less likely, but a brief tornado without a long track is possible.

Weather Radar) shows a line of thunderstorms from Green Bay, Wisconsin south to southern Kendall County by 7:15 p.m. The line filled the entire width of McHenry County at 7:15 p.m.

Arlington Heights and nearby communities experienced a few thundershowers from a lone cell about 6:30 p.m., but the leading edge of the severe storms line was entering northwest Cook County at 7:15 p.m. Radar indicates these storms will be in Arlington Heighstby 7:45 p.m.

Tonight: Thunderstorms likely, mainly between 10pm and 1am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 101. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 74. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 96. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Thursday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
