Police from Arlington Heights responded Sunday night, August 1, 2021 to neighbor requests to check on a party or gathering at the Knight of Columbus “The KC Hall” at 15 North Hickory Avenue in Arlington Heights. There were a few noise complaints and concern about gatherings in the street along Hickory Avenue south of Miner Street. There may have been some parking issues along Miner Street near Hickory Avenue and on Hickory Avenue north of Miner Street. Several vehicles were circling the area, and the gathering at KC Hall at many times spilled into the street — partially obstructing Hickory Avenue.
The KC Hall is 3000 square feet, including the hall, bar and kitchen with a maximum capacity of 275 people. There is also an outdoor BBQ area with an area for a group to stand outside just south of the building.
There were no arrests and no specific calls for bad behavior, except a few drivers speeding or revving engines around nearby streets.
The gathering ended about midnight Sunday/Monday and the majority of people left at midnight. A few people remained in the area until around 1:00 a.m.
The area is under scrutiny for potential parking problems after a microbrewery was approved last month. The owners of the microbrewery are planning to open in a separate building just north of The KC Hall.
Neighbors just north of Miner Street and east of Hickory Avenue and The KC Hall and planned microbrewery are concerned about potential traffic problems and parking problems spilling over into their neighborhoods.
Arlington Heights police officers checked the area and monitored the conditions in the neighborhood for most or all of the gathering time. No other conflicts were reported.
