Arlington Heights police responded on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 to report that a victim’s credit cards and/or debit cards were stolen from a locker at LA Fitness, 345 East Palatine Road in Arlington Heights. The locker theft is initially determined to have occurred at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
Following the locker theft, the offender used the stolen credit cards and/or debit cards at Best Buy, 615 East Palatine Rd. and Dick’s sporting goods at 401 E. Palatine Road — both in Arlington Heights in the same shopping center.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set male/black with short black hair, wearing a red T-shirt and dark or black pants. He was also carrying a pair of eye glasses attached to the collar of his T-shirt. The suspect was also wearing a black COVID-19 mask, covering his nose and mouth.
The Arlington Heights Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the offender. There was no vehicle seen on video surveillance images that might have connected the suspect to a vehicle. All three businesses are located in the same strip mall at Town and Country shopping center located at the southeast corner of Arlington Heights Road and Palatine Road.
