Schaumburg Police Investigating 2 Consecutive Hijackings Sunday and Monday

Schaumburg police responded to two separate carjackings on Sunday, April 18, 2021 and Monday, April 19, 2021 the latter ending with a 17-year-old in custody after a collision that left another person hospitalized. Schaumburg police are investigating whether there is a connection between the two aggravated vehicular hijackings.




On Sunday, April 18, 2021, Schaumburg police responded about 8:10 p.m. to a report of a carjacking in the block of 1100 West Irving Park Road in Schaumburg. Schaumburg police received a report that two males fled in a stolen vehicle described as a gray Nissan Sentra and were not located.

The suspects were described as 1) a male/black, wearing all black clothing, who displayed a handgun in his waistband; and 2) a male/black wearing all black clothing.

There were no reports of any injuries in the carjacking that occurred on Sunday.




Schaumburg police responded to a second carjacking about 5:20 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2021 in the block of 400 Tebay Place in Schaumburg. The driver of the stolen vehicle was involved in a personal injury crash about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Springinsguth Road and Wise Road.

The two-vehicle crash occurred after police responded to the report of the carjacking on Tebay Place. A crash victim with injuries was transported by Schaumburg Fire Department paramedics to Amita Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.

A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the crash, but at least one other suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle with and possibly with additional offenders, who were at large and presumably armed.

Initially, the victim’s vehicle in Monday’s carjacking was not described. The crash scene at Springinsguth Road and Wise Road was located about 2.3 miles south of the Tebay Place stolen vehicle crime scene.
