Round Lake Beach Parolee Charged With Illegal Firearms Possession, Cocaine Possession; Arrested in Waukegan

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group concluded a narcotics investigation which resulted in the arrest of a drug dealer and seizure of two firearms.




Following an investigation, on Friday, March 12, 2021, Lake County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Group Detectives obtained a search warrant for a motel room in the 600 block of South Green Bay Road, Waukegan. The target of the investigation, Tommie D. Harris, 32, of the 200 block of East Hawthorne Drive, Round Lake Beach, was taken into custody by detectives while the search warrant was being conducted. Harris is currently on parole for a previous aggravated discharge of a firearm case.

The search warrant revealed a semiautomatic firearm with a drum magazine and a revolver. Additionally, crack cocaine and cannabis were seized. Harris had been utilizing the motel room to manufacture crack cocaine from powder cocaine.




After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the case, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges for Harris:

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute (Class 2 Felony)

Two Counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use/Possession of a Weapon (Class 2 Felonies)

Two Counts of Unlawful Use/Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felonies)

Harris remains held in the Lake County Jail on $150,000.00 bail pending a return court date of March 18, 2021 at 9:00AM in courtroom T020.




Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “Our Special Investigations Group continues making it a priority to seek and arrest drug dealers and violent offenders who unlawfully possess firearms. This parolee not only had two firearms unlawfully, but he carried a drum magazine capable of holding 50 rounds of ammunition for one of those firearms.”

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
