Death of Injured Infant Following Emergency Call on Longwood Place in Elgin Ruled a Homicide


Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Elgin responded just before 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, to a report of a child in medical distress in the 0-99 block of Longwood Place in Elgin, according to the Elgin Police Department. The child was transported to Amita Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin and later transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, where he was pronounced dead.

Three-month-old Malik Davis died of blunt force head injuries at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago on Friday, March 12, 2021, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has ruled the infant’s death a homicide, according to a information released on Saturday, March 13 2021.
