Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 10:17 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2021 to a report of smoke coming from an electrical box in an apartment building at 913 East Golf Road Arlington Heights.
Firefighters received a report that fire alarms activated and lights flickered in the building before the electrical box was inspected, and smoke was visible in the electrical box and a laundry room.
Engine 3 on arrival reported nothing showing from outside the building.
Engine 3’s interior crew reported evidence of a small fire in a circuit breaker by about 10:23 a.m. Firefighters checked for extension of fire, and found no extension. Extra crews, except an ambulance crew and the Battalion Chief, were immediately released.
Fire command was in contact with ComEd via 9-1-1 dispatch, and was working on arranging either a remote disconnect or an onsite disconnect of power.
Since it was necessary to cut power to the building, the building heating system is temporarily unavailable. The Village of Arlington Heights Building Department was also notified for additional assistance at the scene.
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
