Des Plaines police responded about 2:15 PM Tuesday February 2, 2021 to a home invasion, aggravated assault and aggravated fleeing and eluding Wolf Road and Thacker Street Des Plaines, IL. Police received a report to be on the look out for an aggravated assault and aggravated fleeing and eluding suspect also possibly involved in a home invasion. The aggravated assault and aggravated fleeing and eluding occurred at Golf Road and Thacker Street.
Des Plaines Police Update …
“On February 2, 2021 at 2:11 p.m. Des Plaines Police responded to the 400 Block of Prairie Ave. for the report of an Aggravated Assault. While responding, officers were notified subjects were striking the complainants door with a shovel and possibly displayed a handgun. The offenders left the area in a vehicle last seen heading eastbound on Prairie Ave.
Officers located the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver abruptly pulled over and a female passenger exited the vehicle, after which the driver continued fleeing. Officers apprehended the female passenger and recovered a hand gun from her person. Other officers continued to briefly pursue the vehicle, which refused to stop. Due to safety and traffic conditions, the pursuit was terminated.
The investigation is ongoing and at this time it appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community.
The driver was possibly armed. One suspect bailed out of the vehicle and ran from the scene. Police recovered a firearm at the scene.
The offender’s vehicle was described as a white 2017 Nissan 4-door with dark tinted windows and temporary tags.
The offender and vehicle were last seen by Des Plaines police eastbound on Golf Road from Mount Prospect Road.”
Prospect Heights police spotted the vehicle by about 2:43 p.m. and were in pursuit or casing (following) with the vehicle northbound on Sanders Road from Milwaukee Avenue. The driver was described as a male/Hispanic, possibly armed.
The pursuit was terminated near Sanders Road and Willow Road near Northbrook.
The initial home invasion crime is reported to have occurred in Des Plaines, but the location and time of occurrence was not initially known by individuals outside the police investigation.
