One employee accessed a gun and shot several times at the robbers, hitting both at the One Stop Food & Liquor store at Fairfield Road and Mayfield Drive (CBS Chicago).
Round Lake Beach police officers responded about 10:47 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 to a of an armed robbery at the One Stop Food & Liquor, 1015 North Fairfield Road — at the southeast corner of Fairfield Road and Mayfield Drive. Upon arrival, police officers learned that a female suspect and a male suspect entered the business and ordered the employees behind the counter at gunpoint. At one point during the incident, one of the employees was able to access a firearm and shot several rounds at the suspects, striking both suspects. The suspects then fled the store into a waiting vehicle, and a driver fled the area with the injured passengers northbound on Fairfield Road.
An assisting police agency located the suspects’ vehicle, where the driver had down a dead end road. The driver and front passenger fled on foot leaving behind both injured suspects. The injured suspects were transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Their condition was initially unknown, according to the Round Lake Beach Police Department.
A perimeter was set up and a K-9 unit was called assigned to assist in the search for the driver and the front passenger; however, the driver and front passenger were not located.
The Round Lake Beach Police Department kidneys continues to investigate this incident.
