Testing available with no pre-qualifications or symptoms needed

Needing a last minute COVID-19 test with rapid results? Health Gauge’s first Illinois drive-thru location at Woodfield Mall is opening Tuesday, December 22, 2020 and is now taking appointments with same-day results. Located in the G Lot, on the south side of the mall near Sears, most test results are provided in less than 60 minutes, all without leaving your car.

“We are looking forward to bringing the ease and affordability of our rapid drive-thru COVID-19 testing to Illinois for the first time,” said Health Gauge President and Co-Founder, Scott McGlothlen. “Our rapid testing requires no pre-qualification, allowing anyone with or without insurance to receive affordable, same-day bookings and results to provide peace of mind to everyone as we quickly approach Christmas and New Year’s.”

Health Gauge offers:

– No pre-qualification, no symptoms required

– 96.7% Accuracy

– Affordable $99/test with cash or online payment

– Rapid results (same day, often under 60 minutes)

– Less invasive nasal swab

– Same day bookings available

According to the Health Gauge website, Health Gauge is “Official Quidel Corporation (QDEL) qualified” to offer the Sofia 2 SARS Antigen FIA test for COVID-19. Health Gauge uses the Sofia 2 SARS Antigen FIA, and reports the COVID-19 antigen test has 96.7% sensitivity (ability to exclude false negatives) and 100% specificity (ability to exclude false positives).

An antigen test is a rapid diagnostic test suitable for point-of-care testing that directly detects the presence or absence of an antigen. Antigen tests are designed to detect viral proteins — which, in the case of the coronavirus (COVID-19), would come from the spikes that coat the outside surface of the virus — that trigger an immune response in the body.

Because these tests are faster and less expensive than molecular (PCR) tests are, some experts consider antigen tests more practical to use for large numbers of people.

With 20 years of preventative ultrasound screenings and corporate wellness, Health Gauge (formerly known as Stroke Detection Plus) teamed up in early May with the state of Iowa to help staff and work the Test Iowa Strikeforce team. From there, Health Gauge started to provide their own COVID-19 tests as a complement to the overwhelming demand in Midwest states with locations in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota.

Woodfield Mall will be the seventh Health Gauge location in the five Midwest states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota and Missouri, and will be open Monday-Friday from 8AM-6PM and Saturday -Sunday from 9AM-2PM. Testing will be open from 8AM-1PM on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day. To find out more information and to schedule an appointment, visit www.hgscreenings.com or call 877-732-8258.

According to global health policy organization KFF (formerly Kaiser Family Foundation), a study of 102 hospitals (consisting of the two largest hospital in each state plus Washington D.C.) showed there were 78 hospitals that posted prices of COVID-19 diagnostic tests. Most hospitals (37%) were in the range of $100 to $149. Twenty-two percent of hospital tests cost $50-$99. Nine percent of hospital tests cost $300 or more. Federal law requires hospitals to make COVID-19 prices publicly available on their websites, prices could only be found for 78 of the 102 hospitals examined, according to KFF.
