Air pressure drop in north-central Iowa indicates increased chance of thunderstorm development in our area. The National Weather Service Chicago expects a narrow line of strongly-forced convection to sweep across our forecast area roughly during the 3 PM – 8 PM timeframe (earlier west, later east), delivering a threat for strong-severe wind gusts, small hail, and even a few brief tornadoes.

Weather Radar shows a line of thunderstorms crossing the Mississippi River with some spotty showers developing ahead of the thunderstorm line at 2:15 p.m.

The Tornado Outlook has shown an increased probability area in the area –including the City of Chicago in the update — compared to this morning’s outlook.
