Police and firefighter/paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 7:41 a.m. Sunday, November 8, 2020 to a report of a rollover crash at Higgins Road and the Frontage Road of Route 53 on Schaumburg’s west side near the Streets of Woodfield. Initially there were reports that the driver was trapped.

Upon arrival firefighter/paramedics learned that the driver crawled out of the pickup truck on his own before they arrived. The driver was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to Alexian Brothers Medical Center.

Initial investigation showed that the driver of the black Silverado pickup truck with a cap was eastbound on Higgins Road when the driver hit the curb island for the right turn lane to the entrance to southbound IL-53/I-290. The truck rolled and came to rest at the southeast corner of the intersection of Higgins Road and the IL-53/I-290 intersection. Contents in the truck’s bed — including tools and propane tanks — spilled onto the roadway and parkway.

The Speed Limit on Higgins Road is 40 MPH according to a Google Street View image captured in November 2019.
