Jorge Torres has been appointed as the new Building and Life Safety Director for the Village of Arlington Heights effective November 30th, announced Village Manager Randy Recklaus. Mr. Torres is currently the Building Division Manager with the City of Highland Park and joins the Village team with over 25 years of valuable experience working both in the private sector as a contractor and property manager, and as a municipal inspector and administrator.

His extensive experience in the industry will help him lead the Village’s Building and Life Safety Department. “I believe Mr. Torres will be an outstanding leader for our Building and Life Safety Department, not only because of his experience and expertise, but also his problem-solving customer service philosophy, and open communication style,” said Village Manager Recklaus. “His reputation for excellent customer service and staff leadership skills will positively impact the services provided to our community.”

In addition to his tenure in Highland Park, Jorge Torres has worked for Waukegan, West Chicago, and Park City, and Round Lake Park. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Northwest Building Officials and Code Administrators (NWBOCA) .

“The Village of Arlington Heights has always been known as an outstanding Chicagoland community. From the upstanding residents, to the distinguished group of individuals at Village Hall, I am honored to be able to serve Arlington Heights as the Director of Building and Life Safety,” said Jorge Torres, new Building and Life Safety Director. “As the winter season approaches, I am beyond eager to join the team and look forward to meeting more Arlington Heights residents.”

Jorge Torres is a Certified Building Official with the International Code Council and has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business and Management and Information Science from Northeastern Illinois University.

Under his leadership, the Building and Life Safety Department of 18 employees will work with residents and businesses to ensure that the built environment in the Village of Arlington Heights remains safe and accessible for all.
